Ep 184: Cleveland Councilman Basheer Jones Talks Politics & Islam on the Prisonworld Radio Hour
The Prisonworld Radio Hour is winding down 2018 with a series of shows to make it a November to Remember! Joining cohosts Jenny & Rufus Triplett is Cleveland Councilman Basheer Jones. He’s the first Muslim Councilman in the City of Cleveland and that doesn’t go without controversy.
Within recent years the political climate has been overwrought with violent and divisive rhetoric against Muslims. Although Br Basheer is a local politician, he still endures much of the onslaught and backlash of the national tone. Doing much for the Community in which he grew up as a child and helping young Black men and Black families overcome the poverty stricken area, Br Basheer is making history and making change. And all not necessarily in that order. This interview was a long time coming. Enjoy.
