Lindsay Lohan Keeps Getting Arrested

Many states have laws that provide for increased penalties if someone is repeatedly convicted for the same offense. Usually a driver is considered a habitual offender after three convictions, but many states now have greater sanctions for even a second offense. Lindsay Lohan, who has been convicted of a couple of DUI’s, is not just a repeat offender but a repeat violator as well.

There is a difference between a habitual offender and a habitual violator. The habitual offender is someone, such as an addict, thief, or serial bank robber, who commits their offenses where as to be charged with the same felony or misdemeanor. A habitual violator is someone who has already been convicted of an offense and has re-offended with the same crime or another crime to which it violates the current sentence imposed. Lindsay Lohan, who has currently been charged with felony theft, is in violation of her probation for a previous DUI with another DUI charge still outstanding.

Prisonworld Magazine communicates with inmates, several who are sentenced under California’s The Strikes Law, regarding their offenses and the subsequent choices they could have made. “Most often times the inmates are battling an addiction to crack, weed, meth, and/or money and is in total denial. Addiction therapy is provided in the majority of correctional facilities but the inmates have to want to beat the addiction in order to achieve success,” says Jenny Triplett, co-editor-in-chief.

Ted Hall, the golden Voice of Radio, has just proven that the allure of Hollywood and all that comes with it may be too much for an addict. Lindsay Lohan has previously reached out for help in a feeble attempt to avoid jail time. The façade of recovery is slowly unmasking itself with her newfound troubles. An addict will be an addict for the rest of their life. The choice to fight the monster within and to be a recovering addict is a choice that can only be made when one is ready. “Maybe a little prison time would do her some good. It would definitely jump start the 12 Step Program,” says Jenny.

The criminal justice system has been known to give celebrities a slap on the wrist. TI, the rapper, did not fare well with his probation violation. He sits in a Federal Correctional Facility in Arkansas after violating his probation with a drug possession charge. His recovering addict status has yet to be seen. Lindsay Lohan is a habitual violator. Lindsay Lohan should go to prison.
