Jenny Triplett Speaks at Family Conference
Incarceration is affecting numerous people across the country. With over 2.4 million people incarcerated, the extension of the incarcerated including mothers, and fathers, siblings, aunts and uncles and most importantly children are suffering. Bridging the gap between those who are incarcerated and finding ways to encourage and support the families who are also doing time is part of the purpose and passion for the owners of Dawah International, LLC.
Rufus and Jenny Triplett are co-Editors-in-Chief of Prisonworld Magazine, which is published by Dawah International, LLC, a multimedia company. The magazine is printed on a bi-monthly basis and has a yearly readership of 350,000. They are co-hosts and co-producers of the weekly radio show the Prisonworld Radio Hour. Jenny is a requested speaker for correctional facilities, non-profit organizations, schools, radio and TV shows and print magazines. Rufus is a member of the group, Likely Suspect, which provides acapella entertainment for the speaking presentations. Together they present a powerful dynamic duo where two voices become one and the message resonates to any audience in which they speak.
Prisonworld Owners are about solutions at Family Conference
“We are finding that are presentations are spreading by word of mouth and more people are reaching out to us all across the country. It is one thing to have read or written a book about a subject but it is just as impactful or even moreso to have lived it. The college students seem to be pleasantly surprised at how real we are with life’s situations. The high school students tend to laugh a lot but that’s ok. At least we know they are listening. This conference draws families from all across the country, including Canada. We look forward to the connection,” says Jenny Triplett, Editor-in-Chief.
Prisonworld encompasses a magazine, radio show, record label, blog, entrepreneur network and prison outreach program. Friends and families of inmates are highly active in the Prisonworld social network on Facebook, Twitter and YOUTUBE. The network provides support, information, resources and all types of freebies highly needed and appreciated by those with incarcerated loved ones. The curiosity of the network has drawn an assortment of news media and celebrity followers such as Al Pacino, E! Entertainment News, and Glen Beck’s Newspaper, The Blaze.
Rufus Triplett Sings Acapella at Family Conference
“Who else do you know that is receiving about 500 letters a week from inmates? Who else do you know that do all they can to support the families of those who are incarcerated with the best resources possible? The families can make a huge difference in the rate of recidivism based on how they provide support during incarceration. We don’t like to see people go into the system senselessly or unjustly and we defiantly don’t like to see them come out to be career criminals either. This conference will spark conversation and hopefully ignite the families with the strength they need to go a little further.” says Rufus Triplett, Jr., Editor-in-Chief.
The Prisoners are People Too Family Conference will be held in the Buffalo, NY/Niagara Falls area, October 5 and 6, 2012. FREE Registration is open to all who would like to attend.
